The research activity in the discipline is funded through a wide range of external sources including the European Research Council, Science Foundation Ireland, Irish Research Council, Enterprise Ireland as well as various industry sources.  In addition to the academic staff, the discipline currently has over 10 senior researchers including research fellows and postdoctoral researchers, and over 30 PhD research students. Our researchers regularly publish in high impact journals peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings and contribute to patents and industrial research.

Research at the Electrical and Electronic Engineering discipline is highly diverse and inter-disciplinary.
